Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific comprises our confectionery operations in Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and China, and an Australian beverages business which accounts for 32% of the region’s revenue. In 2006, we also entered the Vietnamese market through a third-party distribution agreement.

Australia and New Zealand

Australia and New Zealand are our largest markets in the region. Australia is the 12th largest confectionery market in the world. We have a leading position in the Australian confectionery market. Our 53% market share gives us the number one position in chocolate, and we have a strong presence in candy. Our main chocolate brand in Australia is Cadbury.

Picture of Cadbury Dairy MilkThe products of the Australian beverages business are sold under the Schweppes, Cottee's, Solo, Spring Valley and Sunkist brand names. Australia Beverages also has a licence to manufacture, sell and distribute Pepsi, Red Bull, 7 UP, Mountain Dew and Gatorade. In Australia, we manufacture, distribute and market our own products and also manufacture concentrate and bottle product for other manufacturers.

In New Zealand, our brands include Cadbury and Moro, and we have a number one position in the confectionery market with a 47% share.


Asia

Other significant markets in this region include India, Japan and Thailand. Our Indian business has a leading presence in chocolate with a 71% market share, and also sells candy under the Eclairs and Halls brands and Bournvita. In Japan, we sell mainly gum under the Recaldent and Clorets brands, and have the number two position in gum with a 20% market share.

We also have leading market shares in Thailand in gum and candy at 63% and 31%, respectively. In Malaysia, we have a number one market share in chocolate at 29%, and in gum, a number two position through the Dentyne brand with a 19% share.
